15u Thunder visited Providence, Rhode Island the weekend of June 22-24, playing in front of coaches from 16 New England colleges over a span of three games, highlighted by Sunday's game at Brown University. This showcase tournament complemented the trip to Philadelphia two weeks earlier where Thunder played in front of colleges from the Mid-Atlantic region.
Unlike the earlier tournament that was targeted to players graduating in 2020/21, the current trip to Rhode Island was targeted to older players graduating in 2019 and 2020. Thunder finished the weekend with a win and two losses, playing very well against teams two and three years older. Strong starting pitching from Craig Ottaviano, Mike Maloney, and James Gerard highlighted the defensive effort, while effective relief pitching from Jack Hoch and Connor Sullivan sealed the win in Game 1. Equally good relief outings from Christian Rubino-Chuckas (Game 2) and Jake Morton (Game 3) kept the Thunder close during most of the latter two games versus opponenets' formidable offensive threats.
